Pancakeism Avenue

If you recalled my earlier postings, you would notice I have written on similar post previously. Since completion of my first degree, I have always wanted to write Children's books such as "The Legend Spookley, the Square Pumpkin" - educational and edutainment for children. Away from the two boxes, television and computer.

I thought of reading to children in bookshops and libraries, donating books to children in disadvantaged families, helping them to develop their creativity and communication skills besides improving the language itself.

Then you will question, why haven't I come up with my children's books. In fact, my academic book came first.

Not the procrastination. I have lost count. I must have written more than thousands of opening lines, but never quite managed to finish the first chapter before I chucked the whole theme away. Even though writing may not be difficult for me, illustration is a challenging task. In my views, no children's book is complete without proper illustration.

Perhaps, in my revised resolution list, I should consider picking up my creative pen again!

Decipher

I had one of those strange dreams last night and the after-dreams-thought puzzled me a little this morning. First dream scene: I dreamt about Mr Scorpio broke up with his wife, and I have been reminded by everyone to stay away concerning of potential rebound. I can't imagine my brain can think in such structured manner even in my dreams. Anyway, he wasn't the centre of my dream. Second dream scene: A man around my age, looks like Mr Scorpio, but certainly not him, visited us. His talks, his words, his care and concern all sound too familiar. It is almost like I have seen this person before, but I knew I haven't. But, he has appeared a few times in my dreams previously, especially about a decade or more ago. Definitely, he is not someone I have met/seen in real life. He has said a few things to me (viz. advice) in my dream last night, I found them meaningful and helpful. However, I can't recall a word when I woke up this morning, not even his name he has told me. But, a phrase came up in my head: "No matter where you go, I will protect you". I definitely have heard of this phrase somewhere before. Strange.

Growing Up

Strange, I have insomnia twice this month. It may be due to the coffee.

I dreamt about Kampung Ayer (Water Village, one of the important tourist spots in my country) a while ago, and I dreamt about I proposed for a new "Space U Structure" to re-model the current Kampung Ayer. I have been thinking too much. When I was younger, my grandparents used to advise me when I had nightmares - don't think too much during the day, these thoughts might continue in your dreams if you keep thinking. It's true of what they have told me.

A while ago, I thought about my childhood, how I stood up to protect my younger siblings. I still laugh at how silly I was - those were the days I shouted at whoever attempted to raise voices at my younger siblings, I warned them, "Bully my family and me, I'll make sure your feet will never touch that floor again". HaHa ..

I thought about my teenage years, my punk hairstyle, and how silly I was at 18 - my greatest ambition was to be a housewife.

I thought about my 20s, how lonely it was the first time I suffered jetlag in UK without family and friends by my side. Autumn was grey and dull to me all of a sudden that morning. I looked at the clock which I brought with me from Brunei. It tick-tock, tick-tock at 2.30am and I wondered what my family were doing in Brunei - were they having breakfast? Did they miss me? What was the weather like in Brunei? I bet it won't be as boring and lonely and grey as in Keele at that time.

I thought about my early 30s which I madly in love with a guy whom I believed for the first time in my life, the feeling was reciprocal. Well, the guy might be Mr Right, but timing was just not right. So, I saw him walked down the slopes with a gift that he wanted to give me for my birthday. I saw disappointment on his face when I showed annoyance. Then, distance grew wider. Eventually, we went separate ways. He got married several years later. I cried  for several weeks. I thought through and recovered well.

Now that I am sober again, I believe if I were to be less indecisive and made that phone call, our fate would be different today. I may be happily/or unhappily married by now. I may be a mother with two children.

My mother always tells us, think before you act or speak because no point crying over spilled milk. I am no more angry with myself, nor do I annoy with the fate anymore. My past was like bumper car experiences. I lost direction, and I didn't know what to do. But at present, I know deep down, may be it was my sober mind that has arranged my life that way.

I've grown more mature these days, and know what I want in my life. I still don't believe in destiny, I still believe in we could change our fate if we want to. But one thing I still believe in, now and perhaps for the future too, is: No one could put you down unless you give them the rights.

Like How I Dreamt Part 1

Last night I dreamt about I've gone back to university to pursue another degree. It was a very relaxing feeling to stroll past an on- campus apartment. In my dream, I stayed in a small unit where time schedule for my lectures was pinned on the kitchen pin-up board. My fridge door was full with fridge magnets, just like those days when I was in Brisbane. It was autumn, and everywhere was orange and calm.

These days I constantly have a picture flashing on my mind: I live in a big city. On a rainy day afternoon, I sit near my big window sipping coffee looking at busy passers-by who try to rush home from work. At the background, Don McLean and Suzzane Vega music playing non-stop.

Sometimes I feel I don't belong to the world where I am living now, but who doesn't think like that most of the time.

How To Convert Dreams To Things?

Recently, I always dream. Sometimes, I dreamt about some enterprising ideas that I have never seen or heard in my life before. A month ago, I dreamt about a place, its structure and decoration, I was thinking to myself if I have the money to build I would probably own the world greatest zen's empire. Last night, I dreamt about tulips, lots of fresh tulips. The colour is so vibrant that I was thinking to myself when I woke up this morning - if I can find out the technology to preserve them as fresh and vibrant as what I saw in my dream, I could get rich from patent rights and selling the technology to food industry.

Am I dreaming too much? Haha ..

Part Of My Plan

When I have sufficient time and money one day, this will be the type
of family-friendly cafe-res (ie. cafe-restaurant) that I want - simple (minus the wall decor, haha).

To Do List Part 1

Three cheers to Sasha Cagen! Her To-Do-List has just been released as a book. According to blogspot review, it is "PostSecret" meets "Getting Things Done". Both blog and book are collections of her to-do lists, mailed or emailed in by people.

I am thinking and wondering if I published my blognote of 21 months and named it after my blog - will there be anyone buying my book??

Pardon me of my slight tint of depressed tone in my previous line.

I've thought of a better plan to develop the philosophy of Pancakeism than the book. Thanks to Woofhams's creative idea! Yesterday Woofhams told me if I had a cafe one day, I could name it "Pancakeism (TM)". I'll post my revised plan when I am not too busy.

Hooray! 3 days to my sis-in-law's due date!
