We were so busy in the past 8 weeks that it has slipped my mind to post the picture of Mama's birthday cake. Since Mama loves fruits, so I've advised the baker to decor her cake with fruits of assorted colours.

Happy Father's Day

I've promised myself not to buy anymore mousse cake. The Hazelnut Mousse cake looked tempting when I bought for Father's Day, but it didn't stand the test of heat. Due to our fridge was full with vegetables that day, I have kept it in air conditioned room for two hours before Papa cut the cake. But, the texture changed so quick that our guests thought I might 

have bought an overnight cake ;-/

Thanks God I've a second cake as back up plan!

My sister Woofhams and my brother DK chose the design of Papa's birthday cake this year, and as usual I picked the cake flavour and the wordings. What else, fruit cocktail - my favourite and wordings - Happy Birthday to Papa (I am always such "creative" ... haha!!!).

I love cheesecake regardless of friends' comment that I've put on weight and my face is like a pizza, a big plate or worse ... a moon. Anyway, whatever they say won't deter me from savouring my favourite cheesecake. Of course, I will take the cake in moderation. During Mother's Day this year, I've ordered for my mother a 2 pounds cake by the name of Majestic Chocolate Cheesecake. Yummy cake!

Older By One Year

I stumbled upon a blog which the birthday girl wrote about a lot of '3s' in her life. It occured to me that I haven't posted photos which I have taken during my birthday last year. We were too busy with the preparation of my brother's wedding that we had to put many things on hold. A day before my birthday last year, Woofhams and her husband treated me to a hearty dinner. Woofhams secretly ordered a chocolate mousse cake for me, and I secretly made 3 wishes: 1) Argue less with my parents 2) Listen more to my siblings 3) Tell that guy I do like him and I don't mind his emotional baggage.

How do I achieve so far?

1) I am learning to be more patient but many times my words still hurt my parents - needs improvement;

2) Siblings and myself are on equal footing but being the eldest sister, I should learn to be more tolerant and not throwing temper like a toddler - needs improvement;

3) I still haven't told him I like him because I don't know he is avoiding me or I am avoiding him in actual fact - needs improvement.

Happy Fathers' Day!

This year's Fathers' Day, We bought Papa a Tiramisu cake instead of the usual bluberry fresh cream cake. My father introduced the family to blueberry cake in the 80s when blueberry concept was first introduced in Brunei's bakery.

Blogging opened my eyes to many things which I didn't know in the past. For example, I didn't know much about my father's work life till I read my sister Woofham's blog this afternoon.

My sister's blog has awoken me:

It was Papa who told me that not only men should pursue further education, women have equal rights to everything that men have. If you think that you are born a girl therefore you would be denied similar opportunities as the boys, then you should work triple hard than the boys to prove that you are as capable as them, if possible strive for even more capable than them. Always remember you cannot be weak. You have to set a good, positive example for your younger sister and brother.

I like this message a friend e-mailed me this morning, a flaw of modern living:

"A woman wanted to reach her husband on his mobile phone but discovered that she was out of credit, She instructed her son to use his own phone to pass across an urgent message to his daddy who was on site.

After junior had called, he got back to mummy to inform her that there was a lady that picked up daddy's phone the three times he tried reaching dad on themobile.

Women!! She thought.

She waited impatiently for her husband to return from work and upon seeing him in the driveway, she rushed out and gave him a tight slap, for good measure. People from the neighborhood rushed around to find out what the cause of the commotion was. The woman asked junior to tell everybody what the Lady said to him when he called.

Junior said "The subscriber you have dialed is not available at present. Please Try Again Later"...

HaHa .....

Speak of phone technology, what do you think of this Nokia N80 (I d/l it from the page with users' report)? It is selling at BND1,118 currently - too steep to my taste.

Happy Mothers' Day

Yesterday was a special day. It was special not because it was Mothers' Day, nor it was because Mothers' Day coincided with my cousin Linda's wedding.

It was special because my brother Dato_k has said something very meaningful, and I believe should be the greatest gift to our Mama.

We went out for dinner with Dato_k's in law family to celebrate HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY. Weird, I noticed sales attendants even greeted men with "Sir, Happy Mothers' Day". Am I losing touch with this world, or it is the trend to greet men Happy Mothers' day and to women Happy Fathers' day. If they really cared so much about this event, at least they should make the effort to spell check (see picture), it should read: Happy Mothers' Day!

Anyway, above story is not the focus of what I am going to say today.

I believe yesterday Dato_k has ordered food for a continent of people, not for 12 persons. We didn't manage to finish all food on the table. Before Dato_k settled the bill, he said to me: Che, we need Woofhams Che here to help with the food. Two of us couldn't finish as much food as we did during the Lunar Year's Eve reunion dinner at Empire Buffet. We are A TEAM, it has to be all THREE OF US then we could conquer this food battle better than other tables.

I listened, I smiled and I told our Mama of what Dato_k has just said. I believe this is the most beautiful gift to our Mama. No matter how different in character and thinkings of her three children, we want her to know: we are her great children, and we are A GREAT TEAM!

As old Chinese proverb goes: you can snap a pair of chopsticks, but you can't snap a bunch of chopsticks easily. You can't snap especially these three chopsticks joined forces!!!
